Final 06

Where to begin? It's been too long since my last post. The gap is filled with all kinds of crap. From horror stories to devastating news, from startling revelations to astonishing discoveries, from WTHs to WTFs... and now, at the moment... i feel a certain calmness.

Alhamdulillah. My final assessment went well and the Degree Fashion Show earlier this month went well too. Even before that, i had gotten a lot of positive feedbacks when En. Faizal posted on FB the picture of my first design that Ecal shot. It psyched me up real good to get such awesome reactions from people.

So with the help of my sayangs, i finished up the rest of my collection. Two menswear and two womenswear altogether. The gears look awesome (i think). Haha. So just to update, i had disregarded the Mecca Clock Tower as my inspiration. Instead, i went with TIME. Yep, time is the inspiration behind the slightly steampunk-ish collection. Obviously because of all the gears (clockwork). Haha. Well you have to read my design statement to understand it.

Ouh and also, since the clay proved to be unsuitable as it breaks easily... i found another alternative. Well it was Mama's idea and Papa found the place. Teamwork sangat. Heh. We sent leather fabric to be laser-cut, and then we just paint 'em to look like rusted metal. Same thing... it worked and looked no different than the ones made from clay.

My first design was supposed to be the revealing jacket (menswear) but for the purpose of our photoshoot, it was better to go for womenswear... so the jacket was turned into the second design while the first became a cocktail dress. It's been a dream of mine since my first year in fashion to one day have Tengku Azura wear my design. During the show, she wore the cocktail dress. Sukenye saye~

My collection was the fifth to come out on the runway and the first that had menswear. Rani was bacsktage helping me. When the models were all set and we're waiting for my music to come on, Rani and i looked at each other and we had a "this is it" moment. Haha.

Looking back, we've been friends since post SPM and we used to talk about how he wanted to pursue law and how i had wanted to get into the fashion industry. And there we were. Me, presenting my final degree collection in a big fashion show with Tengku Azura no less! And Rani is now with Zul Rafique & Partners, a major law firm.

We've made it.

Haha. Or so it seemed la, at the moment. So we simply enjoyed the moment while we could. My name was called so i went out on the runway to take a bow... and then... i went out the wrong way. Haha! Bengong. Ok moment's over. ;P

Then i went to find Mama amongst the crowd. It meant the world to me for her to be there. She is my number one fan. She has always... ALWAYS believed in me. Plus, it was Mother's Day so it was also my gift to her in showing my collection. As always, when it comes to Mama... i cried. Filzah even caught me on camera. Kantoi crybaby. Lol~

The crying pic still with Filzah. Ni dah sober. Huhu.. .

I'm also grateful for Papa finally coming around to accept me being in fashion. Towards the end, he helped a lot and not only financially. Tanx to En. Faizal for all the words of encouragements and giving me the creative freedom. Mama, Kak Long and Aan helped a lot too in putting together the gears, tanx guys!

Tanx to my sayangs aka anakanda sekalian; Arep, Dayah, Shifa and Rani for ALL the help. Couldn't have done it without you guys! Tanx to Filzah for the moral support and Fa, tanx for being there. I really appreciate it. Tajul, you couldn't make it but i know if you were there, you'd cheer the loudest... so i thank you too. And Ekhwan, i thank you for NOT showing up because i know you'd make a scene, harassing the models. Haha kidding. Seriously now, THANK YOU ALL... LOVE YA LOADS...~
