Friday
I wanted to look for some clay while Abid and Zharin wanted to do their photography assignments so we agreed on KLCC, plus there was a photography exhibition that day. But turns out there's no art shop, i had gotten the info mixed up in my head. I was supposed to look in Berjaya Times Square. Dayah told me just now. Pffttt~ How the hell did i think it was in KLCC...?! But anyways, we were there and the first thing we decided on was to have lunch but then we lalu at the cinema and went to buy tix pulak. Haha. Wanted to watch Khurafat but then settled for Season of the Witch instead.
The movie was like in another hour so we went makan first. I missed pasta at the food court so i got myself some tasty marinara. Nyum Nyum~ There were six of us; Abid, Qaril, Shahril, Zharin, Ieka and moi. By the way, Ieka is also known as Misae. Yes, as in mak Shin Chan tu. Hahaha.. .

Sesudah kenyang.
Fun at Toys'R'Us.. .
Crappy poster. But Season of the Witch sucks too. Haihh~
After the movie we went to the World Press Photo exhibition. Some of the works were kinda disturbing, the war ones. Nice, but ain't for everyone la y'know. Ngeri~ But there were of course lotsa kewl ones too. Namely, this photo by Robert Gauthier of Yankees fans trying to distract an Angels left fielder which won 1st prize in the Sports.Features.Singles category.
Lucky shot? I love this! This one is kewl too. It's a series of andro kids by Annie van Gemert. Katenye "Before they reach puberty, some boys and girls can appear androgynous." Oh-so-true... Been there. Hahaha...!
2nd prize Portraits.Stories.. .Then there's the slaughterhouse series. Tommaso Ausili won 3rd prize for the Contemporary.Issues.Stories category. The issue; "Neatly packaged meat in supermarkets is often completely detached in consumers' minds from the process of its production."
We get the picture. Then, even though it was starting to get dark outside, the boys wanted to start shooting for their photography assignment. Basic stuff, DOF bagai tu la kan. I wanted to head back but i knew the train would be hella pack, rush hour kot. So i joined in the fun.
Photographer in the making.. .
Dah lame tak jumpe swing.
The twins.I wanted to check out the art shop at the Gardens for that clay. Abid decided to join me as he was looking for some fabric paint. So first all of us headed back to KL Sentral. We had ice cream and lepak for a bit of gossip then Abid and i made our way while the others balik dulu. Finally found it, but in a packet. I wanted the balang one like the Giffy guy showed me mase kat Rantai that day. But actually it was enough. I needed to experiment with it first anyway. No need so much.
What's it for?Well here's the collage of my first design. Look at all the clockwork detailing. If i were to use real cogs and gears, the baju would weigh a tonne! The model will totally curse me. Lol~ So i had an idea of menipu a bit, for the sake of goodness (of course) to use clay disguised as metal.
Death wish.So i sculpted the clay into the shape of a gear and painted it bronze for that old metal effect. It's polymer air dry clay which means you don't have to oven bake it. It dries by itself and doesn't get hard. It stays a bit squishy but the shape remains. Plus it's so light. It's really quite brilliant.
So is it convincing enough...?Now i have to make loads more with different shapes and sizes and play with the arrangement of the faux gears so that it's relevant and necessary, making the garment wearable and not look stupid. Heh. It really is a death wish huh? Mati la weyh.....~ But it's a breeze compared to the tediousness of chainmail, i think. So anyways, saye harus GIGIH...! ;p
